Abstract

Gujarat ranks higher than other states in its share in the Indian economy. The economy in Gujarat state has always performed better than the National average. The economic performance of the State may be considered , as even more remarkable in view of the fact that the state has limited natural resources besides very limited mineral base. Even water resource are scarce with most of the rivers flowing through the state having reasonable water during rainy season only. Despite these limitations, the entrepreneurial nature of the people of the state and popular participation in development efforts has contributed significantly to rapid economic growth. To overcome, Sardar Sarovar Narmada Limited (SSNL) and Water Resource Development Corporation Ltd. Were established to boost the efforts, that even finally subscribed to rise in economic growth of the state substantially.
