Abstract

The saving of the household sector is taken as the sum of its investments in various instruments of financial saving and in the form of physical assets. The investment in financial saving comprises currency, net deposits, shares and debentures (including mutual funds), net claim on government in the form of small saving, investment in Central and State government securities. Present paper deals with perception of the investors regarding investment feature as safety and it is generally associated with investment schemes of various financial institutions. On the basis of these characteristics people decide to invest in a particular scheme. An attempt has been made to understand which of the features are preferred by the investors to evaluate various schemes of bank deposits, LIC, post offices, industrial securities and physical assets.
