Abstract

Gandhian thought was completely aligned to the ancient aphorism that “Education is that which liberates”. Education, today, aims at answering the wants of the one in power - the imperial exploiter. Instead, rural education should be taking care of the poorest villager. Education system in India, especially in rural India, needs to be revolutionized. Gandhi believed that true education must correspond to the surrounding circumstances or it would not result healthy growth. For development of any area, it is important that people first become independent. For rural development, it is important that people must recognize the resources available to them and make the best possible use of them.
