Abstract

ABSTRACT Human resources are the most important part of an organization without which an organization cannot work for a single day. They work collectively to achieve the goals and bring life in an organization. But to succeed it is important to give valuable inputs (human resources) so that output (goals) we get is good. Earlier humans were treated just as any other resource i.e. water , land, energy etc. and businesses were run only for profit maximization at the cost of all the natural resources used including humans. As in the recent years issues like green movement, sustainable development, global warming and carbon footprints are catching the minds of people , they are getting more and more aware of these issues and which resulted in companies taking initiatives in this regard. Trying to minimize carbon footprint, exercising green and sustainable practices, and trying to implement green human resource practices in their organizational culture, vision and mission, means their every activity is based on green thinking and practices. This paper tries to highlight some issues related to green human resources management and those companies which have successfully implemented it. Which resulted in clean and green environment not at the workplace but for outsiders also.
