ABSTRACT Human resources are the most important part of an organization without which an organization cannot work for a single day. They work collectively to achieve the goals and bring life in an organization. But to succeed it is important to give valuable inputs (human resources) so that output (goals) we get is good. Earlier humans were treated just as any other resource i.e. water , land, energy etc. and businesses were run only for profit maximization at the cost of all the natural resources used including humans. As in the recent years issues like green movement, sustainable development, global warming and carbon footprints are catching the minds of people , they are getting more and more aware of these issues and which resulted in companies taking initiatives in this regard. Trying to minimize carbon footprint, exercising green and sustainable practices, and trying to implement green human resource practices in their organizational culture, vision and mission, means their every activity is based on green thinking and practices. This paper tries to highlight some issues related to green human resources management and those companies which have successfully implemented it. Which resulted in clean and green environment not at the workplace but for outsiders also.

ABSTRACT Before 1991, India's narrow minded development strategy was based on self - reliance and import substitution, with a negligible focus towards foreign investment or private commercial flows. India’s economic reforms began in 1991 & these (reforms) recognised the need for a system change, involving liberalisation of government controls, a larger role for the private sector and greater integration with the world economy. Thus, India, is a latecomer to welcome FDI (now one of the primary reason's for India's economic progress), but, even then India is among the favourite destinations for foreign investors. The research paper aims to assess the current FDI situation in India and outline the future prospects. Data has been gathered through secondary sources like reports and publication of Govt., RBI, DIPP, UNCTAD relating to foreign investment.

India –Pakistan relations have been marked by conflicts and tensions ever since independence sixty seven years ago. This relationship was inherent in the partition scheme a implemented by the last Victory of India Lord Mountbatten. The relations between the two neighbors are the product of the political history of the Indian subcontinent. The conflict was largely a result of the fear, jealousies and rivalries that marked the political process at work in India before freedom and culminated in the partition of the subcontinent.

Society cries for justice when a crime is committed. It cries more when criminal trial does not commence in time and it loses its faith when justice is denied to the victim because of the delayed trial and non-conviction of the guilty of crime. The Supreme Court declared in HussainaraKhatoonv State of Bihar that the speedy trial is a fundamental right of the citizen. Our courts are well aware of the fact that the speedy trial is sine qua non for proper administration of justice. Despite various judgments of the Supreme Court, speedy trial has become almost impossible due to mounting arrears in the courts and the courts getting over-burdened because of them. As a consequence, justice has become biggest casualty.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are critical for the economic and social development of emerging markets. They play a major role in creating jobs and generating income for low income people; they foster economic growth, social stability, and contribute to the development of a dynamic private sector. As such, access to financial services is vital in developing a vibrant SME sector in any economy. In many emerging markets, however, access to financial services for SMEs remains severely constrained. The current global economic and financial crisis is not conducive to the business development of small firms, especially those with international markets. Millions of these enterprises, considered the backbone of an economy, have collapsed. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries have been hardest hit, with export markets cut by an average of 40%–50% and resulting increases in unemployment and poverty. SME managers often cite access to finance as a major obstacle to creativity, entrepreneurship and growth. The crisis created an immediate scarcity of funds for lending. As an after effect, a tightening of exposure levels has further affected SMEs, which financial institutions already considered as representing increased risk.

Abstract

This paper is based on two area personality and adjustment. In this paper choose 120 samples, and multivariable personality inventory and bell adjustment inventory tool has been used. By personality is meant the sum total of everything that constitutes a person's mental make-up. Character, a narrower term, refers to the ethical quality of behavior. Character is the steering apparatus; it includes the ideals, dispositions, even prejudices which all together swing the total person one way rather than another. As psychologists, we are interested in understanding both "good" and "bad" behavior—in fact, all behavior—and therefore we are interested in the total personality, not character alone. A number of theorists have laid stress upon the function of personality in mediating the adjustment of the individual. In their view, personality consists of the varied and yet typical efforts at adjustment which are carried out by the individual. A balanced personality is the result of proper adjustment of an individual of his environment. Adjustment refers to behavior directed towards tension reduction. It is also true that personality of an individual consists of his persistent tendencies to make certain kind of adjustment between his need and situation.

This paper examines the three types of deprivations viz longevity, knowledge and economic. Paper concludes that states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh are the worst performing states in respect of these deprivations and HPI. Overtime from 1991 and 2005 not much change has been occurred in their position rather the gap between the best performing (with lesser deprivations) states like Kerala, Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana and Maharashtra and the worst performing states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa has widened on the basis of these deprivations. The worst performing states have higher proportion of deprived people in term of these deprivations. In spite of state intervention through many poor policies the worst performing states are not showing any signs of reduction in the proportion of people having either of these deprivations. It seems that the benefits of these policies are not reaching the poor due to inefficient administration and high levels of corruption.

Abstract

The word brand, derives from the practice of branding. Farmers and cowboys alike used a steaming hot branding iron to burn the initials of the owner on livestock. This enabled farmers to recognize their own cattle and buyers to distinguish the cattle of certain farmers from other, possibly inferior ones. According to the new, more holistic definition of a brand, they are no longer a marketing-driven and advertising driven concept, but a more comprehensive concept that incorporates everything a company does. A clear evolution can be seen in the theory of brands from the previously mentioned definitions. In the 1930’s the brand was considered a particular trademark or logo. It was a tangible representation of the product and whom it belonged to.

Abstract

Literature and writing, though connected, are not synonymous. The very first writings from ancient Sumer by any reasonable definition do not constitute literature—the same is true of some of the early Egyptian hieroglyphics or the thousands of logs from ancient Chinese regimes. Scholars have often disagreed concerning when written record-keeping became more like "literature" than anything else; the definition is largely subjective. Moreover, given the significance of distance as a cultural isolator in earlier centuries, the historical development of literature did not occur at an even pace across the world. The problems of creating a uniform global history of literature are compounded by the fact that many texts have been lost over the millennia, either deliberately, by accident, or by the total disappearance of the originating culture. Much has been written, for example, about the destruction of the Library of Alexandria in the 1st century BC, and the innumerable key texts which are believed to have been lost forever to the flames. The deliberate suppression of texts (and often their authors) by organisations of either a spiritual or a temporal nature further shrouds the subject.

Conflict in today’s world especially those due to the identity crisis of groups within the boundaries of a nation is an issue which keeps on surging in one or the other part of the globe, sometimes having historical roots which reignite themselves owing to the cultural or sometimes political, economic factors or a combination of both, having the reasons in the policies of the state and the norms set by the society owing partially to the nature of state socio-politico-economic policies which creep on to become the societal mandate for the specific groups and also to the cultural climate set in the state over a period of time. There are myriad groups and nationalities within the nation-states for whom the clarion call for the separation, autonomy, and secession runs every time when they feel haunted by the societal and state machinery but actually it’s a process of continuous cumulative build-over which becomes part of the identity politics scenario.

The agricultural sector in India is a sight of struggle at many levels. On the theoretical plane, the debate about the role of agriculture in the economic development of the country, its relative importance vis a vis the industry and services sector, modes of financing agricultural development, the changing nature of agrarian relations and associated political questions give rise to sharply polarised positions across the academic spectrum. At the same time, the practical problems like the relative backwardness and lack of basic amenities of health and education in rural areas, migration from agricultural activities to cities etc. also pose a challenge to policy makers and planners.

The environment is considered to be an activity of milieu which decides the political processes and institutions of governance. Indian during Colonical system was being governed by the Bruisers with sole objective of exploiting the polity, for economic and political considerations. Contrary to this the nationalistic leadership during he struggle for independence of the country assured the masses that it will strive for democratic, secular and socialistic political set-up and ensure equality, liberty and justice to one and all without the consideration of caste, class and sex. Obviously in a pluralistic and pragmatic socio-administrative system the preservation of cultural entity, traditions and values and participation in the system even at grass-root level is only possible when a political structure with these characteristics is organized. In this back-drop the leadership of independent India preferred a federal setup which was to ensure democratic process, economic self-reliance, preservation of its culture, social customs and conventions which were relevant in different regions and sub-regions of the country. It may be noted here that keeping in view the considerations of India’s mosaic social structure Britishers also suggested for a federal structure in their various proposals.

The Great Revolt of 1857 (also Indian rebellion of 1857, the Great uprising of 1857, the Great rebellion, Indian Sepoy mutiny) is regarded as India’s First War of Independence against the British rule. It was the most remarkable single event in the history of India after the establishment of British rule. It was the result of the century-old British rule in India. In comparison to the previous uprisings of the Indians, the Great Revolt of 1857 was of a greater dimension and it assumed almost an all-India character with participation of people from different sections of the society. This Revolt was initiated by the sepoys of the company. So it has been commonly termed as `Sepoy Mutiny‘. But it was not simply a revolt of the sepoys.

From the study of basic parameters of the application of central place theory in Kishangarh, the results have shown any interesting picture. One thing has been cleared that central place is not fully applicable in the study area.Though at India level it is applicable in terms of seven administrative hierarchy of settlement. However, in case of Kishangarh, it rarely follows this pattern. Higher and lower order settlements are there, but the spacing between them is contradictory. Kishangarh is first order settlements in the study area and Tibba falls in the Second order hierarchy while, Dadwindi, Nasirpur, Dalla, Depewal, Jabbowal, Shahwala idresa, Kabirpur, Suja kalia, Saidjour, Kalubhatia are in the third order of the central place hierarchy and all others are in Fouth & Fifth order of the hierarchy of central places. The analysis shows that the central places forming are not equally distributed in the study area. The first order settlements are very close to each other & are located in the central part of the area while in other areas there is no presence of first order. However, the basic assumptions of Christaller like homogeneous place or isotropic plain is absent there due to rugged topography and consumer don’t have the same income, and they are not rational. Somewhere this model is applicable like First order settlement have a central location, all the settlement are not spaced in hierarchy & not equally distributed.
