Abstract

This paper is based on two area personality and adjustment. In this paper choose 120 samples, and multivariable personality inventory and bell adjustment inventory tool has been used. By personality is meant the sum total of everything that constitutes a person's mental make-up. Character, a narrower term, refers to the ethical quality of behavior. Character is the steering apparatus; it includes the ideals, dispositions, even prejudices which all together swing the total person one way rather than another. As psychologists, we are interested in understanding both "good" and "bad" behavior—in fact, all behavior—and therefore we are interested in the total personality, not character alone. A number of theorists have laid stress upon the function of personality in mediating the adjustment of the individual. In their view, personality consists of the varied and yet typical efforts at adjustment which are carried out by the individual. A balanced personality is the result of proper adjustment of an individual of his environment. Adjustment refers to behavior directed towards tension reduction. It is also true that personality of an individual consists of his persistent tendencies to make certain kind of adjustment between his need and situation.
