BAND PARAMETERS STUDIES OF III-V COMPOUNDS USING K.P. THEORY FOR ZEEMAN SPLITTINGS OF ELECTRONICS STATES

Abstract

Band parameters of III-V compounds are studied theoretically using K.P. theory which accounts for inversion asymmetry of the material. The energy dependence of the electron effective mass, the energy- momentum relation in the band gap and the spin splitting of the bands are calculated. Analytical expression for the band-edge effective mass, the spin splitting and effective g-factor are presented , taking clearly into account an interband matrix element of the spin-orbit interaction.
