Abstract

The Palaeolithic period constitutes the longest phase of prehistory and covers a long period of the Pleistocene epoch from about 2 m.y.a. to 10,000 B.P. the Paleolaithic age is broadly divided into three cultural phases. LOWER PALAEOLITHIC, MIDDLE PALAEOLITHIC, and UPPER PALAEOLITHIC. This division is based on progressive improvement in tool types which gradually acquired better efficiency in operation. This gradual development in tool types is one of the most striking features that embodies the Palaeolithic culture.
