Abstract

The common name is physic nut. Biodiesel is the most valuable form of renewable energy that can be used directly in any exiting unmodified diesel engine. Jatropha oil has a very high saponifiation value and is being extensively used for soap making lubricants and candles. Jatropha plant has high medicinal value. Jatropha tree take 4 to 5 years to mature fully, it is irrigated 3-5 lt per plants every 15 days). The cost of cultivation of jatropha curcas in one hectre at on espacement of 3mx2m ie 1666 plants per ha has been worked out Rs.25, 826/per ha. Jatropha curcas grows almost anywhere even on gravely samely and saline soils. Jatropha is found in the tropics and subtropics.
