Abstract

James wrote his fiction under the impact of the Victorian tradition, and he consequently made no frank treatment of passion (sex). James wrote his fiction for cultivated people who follow certain conventions and customs. To them, love is a matter of conventions. James therefore, has portrayed conventional love in his novels.
