Abstract

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)is best known for its use in coating non-stick frying pans and other cookware, as it is hydrophobic and possesses fairly high heat resistance. In industrial applications, owing to its low friction, PTFE is used for applications where sliding action of parts is needed: plain bearings, gears, slide plates, etc. In these applications, it performs significantly better than nylon and acetal; it is comparable to ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), although UHMWPE is more resistant to wear than PTFE, for these applications, versions of PTFE with mineral oil or molybdenum disulfide embedded as additional lubricants in its matrix are being manufactured. Its extremely high bulk resistivity makes it an ideal material for fabricating long-life electrets, useful devices that are the electrostatic analogues of magnets.

Abstract

Research on mass communications and on the acceptance of new farm practices may be characterized as an interest in campaigns to gain a acceptance of change. Despite their shared problems, these two fields have shown no interest in each other. However, very recently, as the student of mass communications began to revise his image of an atomized mass society, there have been signs of growing convergence. The attempt to take systematic account of interpersonal relations as relevant to the flow of mass communications has directed the attention of students of urban communication to rural sociology.

Abstract

The state of Uttar Pradesh is largest state of the country. Diarrhoea is leading cause of death of children below 5 years of age. The aim of the current piece of work was to isolate bacteria from the stool samples of paediatric diarrhoea patients. A total of 20 patients of 2 months to 48 months were screened for the symptoms of disease and sampling was performed. Microbiologically and Biochemically nine isolates were identified as Escherichia coli, while other isolates included Gram positive cocci and rods. Fourteen antibiotics of different groups including cephalosporins I, II and III generation, fluoroquinolones, quinolones, synthetic quinolones, aminoglycosides and nitrofurantoin were used for the assay. All the isolates were resistant to nitrofurantoin and gentamycin, while all were sensitive to amikacin. Cephalosporins and fluoroquinolones were effective variedly against the isolates. Development of resistance to commonly used antibiotics viz., cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones is cause of conern.

Abstract

There is no doubt that sensory perceptions are fundamental to our understanding of urban landscapes – present and historical – and, as the other papers have already made clear, movement is a central component of the urban sensory experience. If we want to understand what Indian urban landscapes ‘were like’, the smells, sounds, sights and feels that one could encounter whilst moving through the city cannot be left out of the picture, nor – it has to be added –is their position in the daily or seasonal rhythm, or indeed their place in town: the sensory encounters in the outskirts of town may be fundamentally different from those of the city centre, and the summer experience may be dramatically different from the winter experience – not only in terms of perceptions to be encountered, but also in the sheer number of encounters, because of varying patterns in movement. It is also true that sensory experiences matter to people in motion: encountered unexpectedly, they may contribute to spontaneous, in-motion decision-making, such as the maybe often half-conscious decision to look where the sound or smell perceived is actually coming from, or the much more conscious decision to halt. Alternatively, people, on their way from a random point A to a random point B, may adapt their journey because of expected sensory encounters—those that are to be avoided, or, perhaps more often those that are to be sought after.

Abstract

Potter Stewart, former Supreme Court Justice of United States defined ethics as “knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is the right thing to do”. To make the right choices as a business communicator, you have a responsibility to think through not only what you say but also the consequences of saying it. Thus, Ethics is the accepted principles of conduct that govern behaviour within a society. Put another way, ethical principles define the boundary between right and wrong.

This article presents an analysis for blood flow through a channel under the influence of an alternating electric field. The blood vessel is modeled as a channel and the nature of blood is accounted through a second grade fluid model. The influence of rheological parameters like Reynolds number and fluid viscoelasticity has been plotted in 3-D graph. The effect of stern and diffuse layer (EDL) formed near the vicinity of the walls has been well understood in the flow pattern of blood flow with the change in viscoelasticity.

Abstract

Song of Solomon, Toni Morrison’s third novel in an increasingly varied and rich body of work, is a remarkable narrative. The novel’s power lies not only in its recovery and representation of African American experience in the mid-twentieth century but also in Morrison’s insistence on the necessity of healing her broken, alienated protagonist, Milkman Dead. Central to both his maturation and his healing is Milkman’s recognition that the cultural past of the African American South continues to create his twentieth-century present in ways that are not constraining but liberating. We see a troubled universe in Song of Solomon, where racism and inequality run rampant, touching and affecting every character’s life in significant ways. We are exposed to a society divided along racial lines, and we are given access to the black community, watching the effects of slavery and racism over four generations of American history. We witness America’s inability to see beyond race, and to honor Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. We see how racism is both socially, systematically, and economically perpetuated. Feeling that there is no solution, no way out, no means of achieving the inalienable rights Lincoln spoke of, a society within the black community is formed in order to kill white people. Key words: Afro-American, alienation, cultural heritage, authentisize, existance, race.

Abstract

Extremism is a complex phenomenon, although its complexity is often hard to see. Most simply, it can be defined as activities (beliefs, attitudes, feelings, actions, strategies) of a person or group far removed from the ordinary. In conflict settings it manifests as a severe form of conflict engagement. However, the labeling of activities, people, and groups as "extremist," and the defining of what is "ordinary" in any setting is always a subjective and political matter. Extremists are usually contrasted with centrists or moderates. For example, in contemporary discussions in Western countries of Islam or of Islamic political movements, the distinction between extremist and moderate Muslims is typically stressed. Likewise, extremist Christians in countries such as the United States are frequently contrasted with moderate Christians. Political agendas perceived as extremist often include those from the far left or far right, as well as radicalism, reactionism, fundamentalism, and fanaticism.

‘Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.’ So goes a well-known but anonymous quote. For many athletes, pain is a normal everyday experience and success is often achieved in spite of pain. But what’s the best strategy for coping with and overcoming pain and how can athletes distinguish between benign and potentially damaging pain? Matt Lancaster looks at the latest evidence Pain is synonymous with sport. Endurance athletes relish the challenge of ‘pushing through pain’ while boxers expect to fight on regardless of a jarring blow to the chin. Adulation is reserved not just for the star rugby player, but anyone who can play through pain and contribute to the team. Winners and heroes overcome pain. Losers don’t.

Abstract

It is useful to recall briefly the nature of the Indian Banking sector at the time of initiation of financial sector reforms in India in the early 1990’s . The Indian financial system in the pre-reform period (i.e. prior to Gulf crisis of 1991), essentially catered to the needs of planned development in a mixed economic framework where the public sector had a dominant role in economic activity .The strategy of planned economic development requires huge development expenditure which is met through Government dominance of ownership of banks, automatic monetization of fiscal deficit and subjecting the banking sector to large pre-emptions-both in terms of the statutory holding of Government securities (Statutory liquidity ratio or SLR) and cash reserve ratio (CRR).
